Her first and great love, though, was always cooking. Chef Kate has worked in many restaurants, starting as a teenager.
She even had the pleasure of apprenticing with both Sam Choy and Roy Yamaguchi before attending the French Culinary Institute in New York City.
As a Classically trained Chef, Kate did further apprentice work in Europe, finally working in New York City until 9/11, when she returned home to Hawaii.
Chef for the Most Discerning Diners Around The World
Her years of experience have included stints as a corporate & private chef aboard international yachts, as well as opening multiple restaurants here in Honolulu and New York, as well as Florida.
More recently, Chef Kate’s food has been seen on both the Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum, PI TV shows – on camera as well as being served to the shows’ department heads off camera – and on various commercials.
Her scrumptious food and desserts can also be found at various locations in Honolulu!
Her uplifting and inspiring story of not only overcoming a disability, but also flourishing, was featured in the book “The Survivor Spirit”, which benefited our Kapiolani Women’s and Children’s Medical Center.
Her other interests include football, a highlight of her career coming when she catered Pro Bowl players’ parties with Sam Choy.
